THE FRIENDS OF STAVELY LIBRARY SOCIETY - our Bottle Drive held on Saturday, January 6th was a total success!  A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone that volunteered their bottles and cans, and to our members of the Friends Society who donated their time!  Also, thank you to those in the community who donated money in lieu to the Friends Society.  We so much appreciate your support!

Next meeting is scheduled for Thurs. Feb. 8th @ 7pm

Stavely Library Board- AGM & regular meeting February 1st @7pm Everyone is welcome to attend!

BOOK CLUBNext meeting will be Wed. Feb 7th in the library at 7:00pm. We will be discussingCode Name Helene” by Ariel Lawhorn.  February selections will be Travel Fiction which will be handed out that evening. The three selected are:  

v  One Night on the Island by Josie Silver - 2022 Salvation Island, Ireland

v  What the Wind Knows by Amy Harmon - 2019 Time Travel, Ireland

v  The Summer Seekers by Sarah Morgan – 2021 Route 66

If you are interested in participating, please come to our meeting to choose which book you would like to read or choose all of them!  Suggestions are welcome – New members are always welcome!  This club is for readers who would like to be introduced to new authors, new genres or talk about new books being published; or just to attend a casual evening of socializing with friends/neighbors!

 

The Plot Thickens Garden Club Lecture Series starts again this month!  Are you interested in gaining knowledge of plants, gardens and gardening?   The Stavely Public Library is continuing our garden lecture series in 2024.  February’s lecture will be on Thursday, Feb. 29th held in the Library 6:30 to 8:30pm.    Our guest speaker will be Kara Matthews, Horticulturist at Coutts Centre near Nanton. Topic will be Seed starting for indoors & outdoors, lighting, potting soil, watering.  Also covering spring pruning, lawn fertilizing & top dressing with seed, edging beds, composting & mulching.  Come join us for a fun and interesting evening with snacks and an attendance draw. Pre-registration would be appreciated by contacting help@stavelylibrary.ca; or texting 403-682-8880, but drop-in is welcome as well.  There will be a cover charge of $5 for each participant for this presentation.  Mark March 27th on your calendar for our next presentation in which Leo Nugterene will be teaching how to make an Easter arrangement for everyone to take home.   More information to follow.  Date and topic will be posted each month on the Library Website: www.stavelylibrary.ca; Stavely Municipal Library Facebook page, and Stavely newsletter.  All manner of gardeners are welcome – from pot to plot!

Radan Testing Kits available. Patrons can now place holds and check out a Radon Kit for three weeks! Available now at the Stavely Library now until April 30th
